Micah Ballard
Arm in arm
then used to adorn his statue
graphs of the colonnade
close the gateway
& seated in his phantom
the chorus is changed,
chant rearranged.  Taking
the stake & chain with them
clans of this kind
do not remove the mind
but have learned
to take refuge in opium
then wine.  Capable of many
disguises, not a trace
of them remains
just the reclaiming of lives
that have never lived here
that after they do
have only themselves
to mourn.
